Backup game tutorial help?

I have the latest 4.2 and I have HBC installed. I am thinking about making it for I can play my backups today but I have a question. I was reading the tutorial and it says

"Now we are worked up and ready to run our backups!! REMEMBER: Use Verbatim DVD-r burned at 2x-4x to minimise errors! Also be sure to scrub the update and region free your backups, so all of them play on 4.2, and noon tries to update you! This is necessary for now, because preloader for 4.2 has not been released yet. Once it is, this will no longer be compulsory. But for now, be safe!"

What my question is what does "scrub the update and region free your backups" mean and how do I do it?

Also, when this is all done and installed can I turn 24connect back on?

you don't need to do that - info is out dated, just ignore it....and you can turn wiiconnect back on if you must, its best left off imo.

Ah ok. Cool. I hope I don't brick my wii doing this but from what I've read, if you do it step by step, it should be all ok. Thank you for the help in these forums.

I also have one more question. I'm sorry. I've updated to the latest 4.2 before I started doing all of this. I've read all the tutorials on how to get stuff working including backups with the latest update but I've read some threads even my "introduction" thread but I must not update to 4.2. Will this cause any problems doing the backups? OR is that info out of date as well? Heh. The guy posted it on my intro thread but it could be an old copy and paste welcome message. *shrugs* Just don't want a 170$ paper weight so I am getting as much info and doing as much research as possible.

its not recommended to update to 4,2 yet, as there is still some bugs to be ironed out, and some minor compatabliity issues etc.

Its not a disaster, and you should be fine if you follow the guide, its just the general advice currently is to not update as its easier if you are on 4.1 or lower.

One more question.. Can I play my backups online if there is a multiplayer part to it? or should I just use my original discs?

you can play your backups online no problem - just don't cheat!
