I think I may have made an oopsie.

I need a little help. I soft modded my wii last week and I had no problems during installation. I made gamecube backup discs and ran those through Neogamma, ran fine. Got a usb hdd and tried to run wii backups through Wii Flow, ran fine. But now the problem... I can't play Gamecube games period anymore. Not original, not backup discs, not through USB. I've ran the originals through Neo, Wii Flow, and Disc Channel but it just hangs on a black screen. I'm positive it's not the disc drive because I can run Wii originals just fine.

The only thing I changed after I made and ran the Gamecube backups successfully the first time is that I updated DIOS MIOS and Wii Flow.

    Post a SysCheck.

Also, just because your Wii can read Wii discs doesn't mean the drive isn't damaged in some way. My Wii had an issue where it sounded like a lawn mower while reading discs. Wii games worked, GCN game didn't. I got the drive replaced and it fixed the problem.

I'm not saying this is the case for you though, just saying don't rule it out. We'll check your mod to rule that out.

    Spoiler

Here ya go. Man, I certainly hope it isn't the drive. Replacing it sounds like more of a pain than it's worth.
The thing is the drive stopped working overnight too, so suddenly, without warning.

The mod looks alright. Do you hear any loud noises while it's reading the discs?

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

No, nothing special, not outside of the noises it has always made. It doesn't do that LED disc drive light up thing when I click play on the disc channel anymore, but it does any other time like when I boot it up or something. Also I was thinking, maybe I am using the wrong IOS or something, or would the SysCheck have told you that?

The SysCheck would've showed that. If you want a second opinion just give a little time, I'm sure CJizzle or Ilaffer will come and look.
