Question Dios Mios - Loading gamecube backup results in black screen

    Hello!

I've been going through these forums for four days, trying to make sense of all the excellent guides. I've managed to softmod my Wii and have Wii game backups and different Usb Loaders working just fine. The problem comes when I try to boot Gamecube games. Everything goes fine, I can see the title of the game and click start, but then: A black screen with two weird clicking sounds. I have to restart my Wii.

As far as I know, I have the newest version of both Usb Loader GX and Dios Mios. Could the problem be that my backup isn't PAL region, like my Wii? If so, did the "region free everything" setting in PriiLoader do nothing?

    Sincere thanks for help.

Check the Dios Mios guide for information on how to use DMToolbox to massage your GC .iso files to create an output directory which gets placed on your hard drive's "games" directory.

Also make sure that your hard drive is FAT32 formatted with 32k clusters. Any deviation from that will prevent DM from working. This is also mentioned in the guide.

If you are trying to play an NTSC game on a PAL system, make sure you select to force the video to PAL mode to match your TV. This is a game-specific setting in the USB Loader which can then be saved so you don't have to change it each time.

Everything is just as you said. I used the dm toolbox and hard drive is as it should be. I've tried different pal modes but no luck: always the same black screen and two audible clicks.

Is there any other wads I should install than the dios mios wad?

Btw now gc discs won't work either.

Have you tried getting a clean rip of the game disk? Using CleanRip to get the .iso then using DMToolbox, or using CFG or GX to rip the disk directly (the same steps as if you would install a Wii game)?

I've tried multiple rips. I haven't tried letting uloader gx do the thing. Shall try when I get home. Meanwhile other ideas?

That's not exactly an answer to the specific questions asked. Clean Rip is a program, for example.

I tried ripping with GX. Still doesn't work. Dark screen and two audible clicks. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not installing just one wad for dios mios is ok? Is there more? Some of the guides have been unclear. Thanks!

EDIT: Got it to work. Changed the hard drive. Apparently the former wasn't compatible. Thanks everyone!
