Are all official Wii cases/shells the exactly the same?

Quick question, I have a softmodded Wii in white and an untouched, stock Wii in black. I want to swap the shells around so the modded Wii internals are the black case and the untouched Wii is in the white case.

Two reasons for doing this: 1, match up all my AV gear in black. 2, sell the stock Wii and white case.

Are both official cases exactly the same, therefore enabling me to do an easy straight case swap following a tutorial?

    Thanks!

They changed the logic board in black Wiis. If it'd have a D4 board and your Wii has a D3-2 or earlier board, not sure things will exactly line up (smaller footprint for the board). While these screw holes and so forth are internal, no guarantee of match elsewhere. Look at the two images below to get what I mean:

Thanks for the reply, I think it is too much hassle then. I don't really want to take them both apart to find they won't swap. I will hold on to both and just mod my black one as well.

They may well swap without issue, but I never looked into that. I did swap out my white Wii's D3-2 logic board for an older version back when we got it. My 2nd Wii I bought off of the FS/Trade section here and is a Boot2 Wii with an older drive.

I'm just trying to remember how much of the actual outer shell/case connects to the inner components....I imagine most connections to the actual outer plastic should be exactly the same. I presume getting the top off is exactly the same on both....it is just how the bottom metal plate connects to the bottom of the components and all the extra fiddly bits that concerns me. If it differs at all it won't work. I guess the only way to know for sure is go through the whole disassemble process on both (not something I really have the patience or time for if the end result is disappointment) or to see if anybody else on here has done it successfully. I'm just wondering though, when people buy 3rd party replacement cases for their Wii (Chinese etc). Is it a case (no pun intended) of one size fits all for all versions of the Wii? If so, it should work. Thanks for the input.
