It should not brick your Wii. Being you're a first-time poster, also be aware a few titles here and there require extra work. Have a look here. Of course, if you did not follow the Wiihacks "Softmod ANY Wii" guide here, that could be part of your problem as well.

First, don't double-post (making successive posts in a thread where nobody's even had the opportunity to reply) --- this is written several times in the site rules you accepted. Second (because apparently you didn't digest this portion of my previous reply):

Third, if you want to ignore my advice (or at least not read the linked guide) in my second point, you could post a SysCheck of your Wii. Both the instructions to do so and the program itself can be found here. If you choose to go that option, post the resulting file (just as instructed in the linked guide in this paragraph) as a reply to this thread.

Your mod is very outdated. You can use our Softmod ANY Wii guide to update it, just follow the instructions starting from mods with Homebrew channel already installed.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

What files do you have that you backed up?

This guide will overwrite whatever your Wii itself has. This guide also has you format the SD card like three times. When all is said and done, what's on the card the third time stays. Is there some "I can't live without it" thing on your card that you're worried about? Your posts thus far pretty much tell the experienced hands on the board you're not reading the full guide.

I will move this thread into the newbie section (far more appropriate). As additional general info, a good primer as to softmodding (in terms of general understanding) can be found here.
