Playing Mario Kart Wii online after May 2014

I just read the news about Nintendo discontinuing the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service in May. Is the source code of the Connection service available? Is there an executable for Windows or Linux which I can install somewhere that my friends and I can connect to and continue playing together? I presume the last piece would be to determine the hostnames used by MK and modify the IPs which they resolve to.

In case it helps, I sent a request to Nintendo support asking them to consider open sourcing the Connection service's source code or providing a binary. But if someone here already has it that would be awesome!

Excellent idea. I fear it will fall on deaf ears, however. Let us know if you get anything other than a pro forma reply from Nintendo.
