Wiimc "Error invalid dvd". Any workaround, or is the wii to new?

    Hi.
Iv got 2 old white wii that always have worked great and plays Dvds. So I got and slightly used black one, softmodded it and gave it to my daughter because she needed a dvd player. But I cannot seem to get it to play Dvds with wiimc.
Iv checked online and some say it cannot play dvds since its to new. Other says there are workarounds, and some say i even have to use other programs. So what does the experts say?

Its a black wii, an RVL-001.

Just softmoded it with mauifrogs guide. Running wiimc 1.3.3 on IOS 58 and the homebrew channel v 1.1.0 on IOS 58 V24.32

We don't know exactly when the cut-off is for DVD compatibility, but we usually say if it's 2008 or before, it has a good chance it will work.

    2009 or later, it won't.

The Black RVL-001 Wii didn't get released in Europe until Nov 2009. So the system is very likely "too new". You will have to find a White RVL-001, and hope it's a system made 2008 or earlier, not in 2009.

Absolutely agreed --- the black Wii was introduced only AFTER D3-2 production PCBs began (controller circuitry for the DVD drive). There is no way to use it as a DVD player or to launch DVD media from.
