As nightstah said, those are two different cIOS. Any games that involve USB peripherals such as mics, drums, etc run best from a cIOS with a base of 57. D2x v8 is simply a global type of modification done to IOS. The d2x v8 modifications are done to stock IOS that are already included in your Wii by N. Our softmod guide modifies IOS56 with the d2x patches and places it in slot 249. It also modifies IOS57 with the d2x patches and places it in slot 250...etc... Depending on what IOS the game calls for is the slot you need to use. IOS56 is compatible with most games, sometimes IOS57 is needed like in games like Just Dance or various other games like the COD series (which uses mics). That is why you need to select which cIOS to use.

As far as game corruption, I have seen that happen when mods are done with the usb drive plugged in, when the Wii is powered down, all kinds of powering down or manipulation of IOS scenarios. True it is rare, but it does happen. So my advice for the future is to make sure you unplug your drive prior to powering on your Wii when you plan on doing anything mod wise. And if you are deleting games frequently and/or installing games frequently, use a defrag prog to help prevent your drive heads from having to go all over the place.

Ok so all games are restored to functionality that I had before I used PMW to update the IOS's. After doing all of this JD2014 now does not work anymore. All of the information I have found says that d2x v10 is needed to play this game. Are there any downsides to updating the d2x IOS mod from v8 to v10?

No, use cIOS 250 rather than 249.

USB Loader GX, WiiFlow and CFG USB Loader. Manually switched the IOS used to 250 for just that game.

My kids use USB Loader GX. In my case, I switched the loader to 250 globally (they normally use a different loader for everyday gaming). You could try that; perhaps the setting didn't take...

The latest CFG lets you pick "AUTO" for cIOS. It does a better-than-I'd-expect job at picking the right thing.
