Wii no longer runs Gamecube discs/DIOS MIOS (?)

Hello, I have inherited my younger brother's Wii which he tried (and failed) to softmod correctly. It has many apps installed, none of which seem to work very well. He recently installed DiosMios and since then it will not play gamecube discs (or play .iso from the SD card)

I would like to at least get the Wii to play my gamecube discs before further tampering with it. I wish I knew exactly what has or hasn't been done to it over the years but maybe we can figure it out together. I'm not really sure where to begin fixing it because it doesn't seem to be able install .WAD files with multimodmanger.

You'll need to post a full SysCheck, check the link in my signature for details on how to do so

You do have 16 stubs according to what you did post which means you probably have little to no mod at all. But as said, we'll need to see a full SysCheck.

Yeah, you have no mod lol. I recommend going to the Softmod ANY Wii guide linked in my signature. Read it 2 or 3 times before trying, follow the directions EXACTLY as written and, should you need help, ask in the guide. There are many experienced users, including the guides author, who watch that thread

If afterwards you'd like to run GameCube games from a HDD without losing retail disc play, give a look at the Devolution guide in my signature

hmm ok. I guess I will wipe my SDHC card and start from scratch. If nothing has been modded why do you think it doesn't run gamecube games anymore?

Don't use SDHC to perform the softmod itself, btw...

I also have a 2gb Sandisk available, would that work?

Could be related to a failed mod (it was modded at some point)...could be a hardware issue. When you insert a disc, does the Wii sound loud? You shouldn't be able to hear it unless you put your ear next to it...if you're hearing it across the room the drive is probably on its way out (or possibly already dead).

Edit: Yes, a 2gb Sandisc is what we recommend for the modding process. Afterwards you can use the SDHC to load the Homebrew.

I followed the softmod guide and it seems to have resolved my issue with the gamecube games, thanks a ton!

Now to try to figure out how to play this super monkey ball 2 iso... SD:/games/smb2.iso isn't being recognized by any of the loaders included in the guide. Might run home and get an external HD and give that a shot.

You can try the Devolution guide linked in my signature for that

It isn't written for SD but I could help you get it working with SD if you'd like.
