My HDD (will give details if needed) is acting strange lately. It works 100% perfect on my Wii and PC with the exception that sometimes my old PC tells me it cannot be stopped because its being used by a program. Here's the weird thing, I have no programs running :|

So is this a sign I need to backup my data and reformat? Or is it my old PC is just junk....I have not yet used this drive on my new PC...perhaps I should try it though.

Edit: Defrag analysis says the drive is 0% fragmented.

Sounds like wright caching, does send the massage if you haven't copied or saved anything.

I can't remember the last time that I safely removed hardware

I will have to check the conditions of when the message appears tomorrow as I haven't got the time right now. I hope it's not getting ready to go, I can restore my data sure (I have a backup drive), but I just having to take the time to do so.

Is a SeaGate Free Agent Go-Flex. I've always had good experiences with SeaGate.

Edit: Well, no issues with my new PC and that HDD. But for safe measure I've pulled out my emergency recover HDD to update my backed up data. Just in case something goes bad then at least I should be able to recover my stuff without having to re-rip my games, movies etc etc.

I've determined that its probably something to do with my old PC, cause the new on has no issues so far. I've been transferring any important files from one PC to the other using the HDD which is how I even noticed the issue in the first place.

It's a Windows problem, do a search and you'll find many people asking the same question.
