PAL GC disks on NTSC Wii loads to blackscreen

    Hi,
I've just softmodded my wii based on Mauifrog's softmod any wii guide. Everything seems to have worked, including the bootmii as boot2 install. I am able to use USB Loader gx to rip both my GC and Wii games, and play the wii games.
My problem is that all my GC games are PAL, and when I try to play the physical disc on the disc channel I can hear the sound, but I only have a black screen. I have installed the Priiloader and enabled the options Mauifrog recommended as well as the region free GC games.

Also, I don't know if this is relevant, but I am using a composite to VGA converter to play my Wii on my Computer monitor.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Since the Wii's Disk Channel is region locked by default, the same would apply to GameCube disks.

Priiloader allows you to remove that region lock. If you've not enabled that, give that a try.

If that doesn't work, you might want to consider Dios Mios or Devolution and install the disks to the hard drive, then set the USB loader software to force NTSC and see if that works.

    Thanks for the quick response.
I had thought that I'd already enabled that region free for GC games, as the games can now be recognised as gc games by the disc channel. They seem to load, I just don't get any picture.

To be honest, I would rather use the USB loader software to play these games, but I thought I'd try and get the disks working before installing new cIOS for Dios Mios.

If you think the USB loader would be better, would you know where I can download the files for Devolution? The Devolution guide doesn't mention where to get the files for Devolution, and the GBaTemp website I've google searched says they have blocked my IP. I've never been to their site, but thats different issue.
    Thanks again for any help.

My devolution guide has all the needed files attached...also, Devolution doesn't get installed to your Wii like Dios Mios, instead it stays entirely on your card like any other app

Gbatemp blocked your IP but you've never been to the site before? How's that possible??

Anyway, as I said, follow the Devolution guide in my signature and you should have GC games loading with Devolution in no time. If any problems should occur following the guide, please post in the guide and I'll be happy to try to help you fix it.

I'll re-read the guide. I must have missed it the first few times. Thanks again.

Yes, when you get to "Part 3: Picking a Loader" look in the spoilers. Just above each spoiler is an attachment for that specific USB Loader with the Devolution loader included. Just follow the directions in the spoiler for which ever loader you want to use and you should have it all set. I'll be happy to help if you need it

Ok, thats where I missed the Devolution download. Sorry, I was under the impression I already had the USB loader installed (I'm using USB Loader GX) from Mauifrog's softmod guide. I didn't realise that I needed to install the loader again. I'll edit this post it this works.
    Thanks!

Even if you do have USB Loader GX you may have the wrong revision so it's a good idea to download the one from my attachment anyway.

Thank you!!!!! Your guide is fantastic. I've gotten several of my games to load and play in all their glory!!
One thing though, could I suggest you put a note at the beginning of Section 3 that Devolution is included with the USB loaders. It might save you answering stupid questions from noobs like me....
Thanks again for the great guide!

My problem is solved. This can be closed!

Happy to help, and that is a good suggestion. I'll add then in my next update.
