This guy still has DarkCorp installed on his Wii, and likely the source/conflict overall. Follow the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide --- and in your particular case, do install the included IOSUpdate pack as well (will overwrite DarkFail).

There isn't really any conflict. Everything works as it should, including SMB with NeoGamma's patch, so yeah, whether or not there's DarkCorp stuff on my Wii, I wouldn't know for sure, but it's not screwing anything up right now.

I doubt starting over with the forum's guide will do me any good, since the original state of my Wii was able to play the games that are unplayable now, but I will give it a try anyway. I think it's just what you said before: bad media gone worse. It's the only possible explanation at this point, and I've been frustrated for too long to care too much anymore.

One funny thing, though: I have Wii Sports Resort as a backup, and most of the mini-games play normally if the game runs via the disc channel (some return error messages, unfortunately) while NeoGamma isn't able to play any mini-game at all. Any idea of why that could be? Is it that cIOS is inherently worse to read games or that my lens refuses to operate well under unconventional "orders"?

EDIT: I made two new backups... One I mentioned before, Monster Hunter Tri, at 8x (before seeing the suggestions of burning at 2.4x) and Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies at 2.4x. MHT didn't work, S&P did. I guess it did come down to which discs survived more usage (and time). I don't know about Verbatim being entirely necessary since I didn't even get it yet, apparently this random national brand (ELLCOM) did pass the test for now.

Thanks for all the information given in this thread. I will copy the discs I messed up and get on with it.

You have DarkCorp installed. The fact you took it upon faith that the uninstaller uninstalled it is incorrect. If you view your SysCheck report, check out the revisions. Do you see the maxed out revs --- 6xxxxx? That's DarkCorp. You have DarkCorp IOS on a softmodded system. DarkCorp is designed to replace pretty much all of your IOS with custom ones so that game backups can be loaded or played from the disc channel.

You have cIOS installed (202 on upwards). Can you see how this may be counterproductive? Original media/discs rely on specific standard IOS. Backups via backup loader rely on cIOS. The vast majority of your IOS are DarkCorp.

On your cIOS: they're outdated, those are V6 and the current softmod has the user install V8 Final. Here's what we consider an acceptable SysCheck to look like (compare it against your previous one):
