    Angry Wii Remote chewing batteries

Hey guys, I've recently got a problem with my Wii Remote. First off, it was working fine until a couple of days ago.

Now, when I put brand-new Energizer Lithium batteries in it, the battery life bar on the screen (when you push the home button) goes down in about 20-40 seconds (yes, that's right, 100% --> 0% in 20-40 seconds). I couldn't believe my eyes when this happened so I chucked the batteries into my working remote and they were fine. I also tested them with an electric multi-meter to check the volts and they both showed up as 1.7v!

I don't know much about electricity but this is obviously wrong

I've taken the remote apart, can't see anything wrong in it...

    Any ideas?

Well, I would try other batteries (from a different and trusted brand) first. Even though the voltages seems fine, they might not be. For one thing, the batteries must not only have a certain voltage level, but they also must be able to sustain it. When you connect a attery, they wil allways output a higher voltage at first, then it drops. When you disconnect it, then reconnect it, you'll see the same thing. It's due to the chemics (you gave the reactions some extra time while you had them disconnected, to put it simply).

Ok, I've tried 4 Energizer Lithium batteries, and the same thing has happened. I also stuck the batteries in from my other Wii Remote and same thing again.

    Thanks
