If you've not checked out our FAT32 guide, you might want to do that as well to make sure that you have everything set up right. A link to that guide is in my signature as well.

    Edit
Alright now that I am softmodded, it tells me i need dios mios or devolution. which is the better choice and if its dios mios which do i choose, dios mios or dios mios lite
Depends on your preference. I say Devolution, you don't install it to the system NAND, it plays games in Wii mode using IOS 58 (which means games that had lag will most likely run at perfect speed) and being loaded with IOS 58 games will load much faster. You will need your retail game discs to verify that you own the games but you only need to do this once per game, after that they load from USB with no disc required. You can get full info on Devolution in the guide (linked in my signature). For Dios Mios, which I don't know keep up on anymore, check the Dios Mios guide.

Another benefit of Devo or DM is that Devo supports audio streaming whereas DM doesn't, so a game with Audio issues on DM will have no audio issues in Devo.

    Dios Mios = USB loading
Dios Mios Lite = SD loading

And yeah, WBFS is outdated, use FAT32...you need FAT32 for GC games anyway.

Unfortunately the black screen still occurs
I am using dmtoolbox to get the game to the right format

I apologize for the double post but editing can't be done on a mobile device. Problem still occurs. I am using dios mios v2.9

Have you tried other games? If any of them work and then this one fails, it's likely a bad rip. In general, once it works for one, it should work for all, pending game incompatibility (which is pretty rare now a days, but still exists).

I'll try this when I get home. I'm thinking it is my hard drive. I'll try my smaller 32gb and see if that works

It is also possible that the hard drive isn't compatible with GameCube games. Usually, if they work for Wii they will work for GC, but I've seen some that works for one and not the other.

We have a USB compatibility thread in the forums you can search for.

If all else fails you could try Devolution and see if any of the games you're having issues with on Dios Mios work on Devolution. I can tell you from both, experience and research, that Devolution can play a few of games that Dios Mios has problems with. So it's worth checking into, worst case scenario you don't like Devo or it doesn't help you can just delete it from your SD card.
