I'm confused with the dol files and wads on homebrew channel please help

Well pretty much, I use wads to install channels on my system menu right? it works good, I did it with the n64 emulator and it worked and when i used a wad channel to install vbagx it installed but when i clicked on it, it loaded and then it went back to the system menu. This isnt my main problem though. It's jsut that the official channel installer on wiibrew or something I download that for vbagx it gives me a dol files xml file and some other file. I also downloaded the other vbagx installer and put them both on my sd card. When I load the emulators on homebrew channel its fine but I want it to be on my system menu like how the hombrew channel is. thank you oh! and one more thing i forgot to mention is that when i launch the dol file in wad manager (I use wad manager) it says exception dsi occured and some other error lines that go down and a very annoying bassy noise repeats. Sorry if my grammar is horrible :P, just in a rush with something. Thanks.

well as for emulators, I always just download them threw the homebrew browser on the homebrew channel, they have all the emulators and the channel installers right there and you will never have a problem with these files, no .dol or wads. just install them threw the hb channel.

To install a Homebrew app, simply pit the .dol file in SD:/apps/[App_Name]/boot.dol. After that it should show up in the HBC.
