Us 1 USB HDD to rule them all (Wii, GC, SNES, NES)

    Hello all,

My ultimate goal is to also load all my Wii, GC, NES and SNES games onto a usb hdd, and basically have 1 HDD to rule them all (Wii, GC, SNES, NES, etc)

I recently fired up my 1st gen wii for my kids, and soft modded it to keep all the discs/carts safe and load them onto a usb hdd.
Currently running 4.3u, softmodded with a MYPassport USB hdd (500gb). I have it formatted with a WBFS partition for my Wii games, and it loads them all and plays great via USB Loader GX. My goal is to make this as kid friendly as possible, so I was hoping there would be a way to now add my GC games to the USB hdd, and view them via USB loader GX as well? All my GC games are currently in ISO format, is it as simple as adding them to my usb drive via WBFS Manager like my Wii ISO's?

I have read through numerous posts and guides on how to play GC games on a soft modded wii via dios mios. But I seem to be missing/not understanding something when it comes to my GC games, and running them via USB Loader GX. If it helps, I also have a 10gb FAT32 partition on the usb drive as well, which I planned on using for my older ROM's

    much thanks

    JK

It's best to have a single FAT32 partition formatted with 32k clusters. Then you can have your Wii games loaded, all of your other emulation loaded, and your GC games will work via DiosMios.

DM will only work if the FAT32/32k partition is the first and primary, so best to have it the only.

Proper installation of your Wii games will bypass the 4gig limitation on FAT32 partitions. I suggest reading the FAT32 guide if you have questions. (guide in my signature, in addition to gudes for Dios Mios and downloads needed for it).

    awesome, thanks for the info.

    to clarify

    1 usb hdd, with 1 FAT32/32k partition.
    - Wii games load/play via USB Loader GX channel
    - GC games load/play via DM
    - yada yada plays via their specific emulator

I can see in HB how you can add a channel for some of the emulators, by chance can DM be viewed as a channel as well?

    ...off to back-up and reformat

    thx

You can also load GC ISOs via Devolution

DM isn't an app that you'd run by itself, so it wouldn't be a channel either. You still go through one of the USB Loaders to access GC games along side your Wii games.
