I'm Lost and Can't Find the North Star to Lead Me

(Posted this once before and cant find it.. Not sure if my internet goofed but It doesn't say I posted in my activity so I'll retry)

Hello, I started to panic after reading something so I am unsure..

I installed the homebrew channel on my Black Wii running System Menu 4.3u and installed Bootmii. Now, I did this thinking I was doing the correct thing until I stumbled upon WiiHacks.com (sorry I am a nooblet and didn't know about this place)

NOW I fear I screwed up, I didn't know the black wiis were not the best to softmod and I thought that it didn't matter all I was hearing was "Wii's are easy to mod" Well, with that I softmodded my wii.

Have I screwed up? I installed Bootmii as a IsO file which I read a post which said to give up if you cant use boot2 or something.. (I have a hard time understanding what I read at times but that is what I got out of that post) After softmodding using Bootmii as a IsO then began looking how to do more things and found this site.. And this site made me second guess my choices.. So have I royally screwed up and wasted my money and my wii?

If not and it is still okay, what do I do next so I don't brick my wii? I looked into things here and I read what to do to BRICK it but a lot of the things I read were hard to understand honestly.. I tried reading before asking this but I am starting to panic and would like not to kill my wii xD haha I don't even want to test running a normal game or turn off my wii in fear I did bad.. I don't even know how to back up my wii even though I cant supposedly, well I can but I'd need someone who could reprogram or something... GOD/Wiihacks! Please help me... lol

You should really have posted a message in the introduction section, you'd have gotten a bunch of helpful links.

The only thing I can say is it doesn't sound like your Wii is broke, you can do 1 of 2 things. I recommend both in the following order:

    1) Re-Softmod your Wii using our Softmod ANY Wii guide (link is in my signature) do NOT uninstall ANYTHING, just follow the guide with your Wii as is and your current mod will be overwritten/fixed.

    2) post a system check to have someone look it over and make sure you did it right. You can find info on posting a syscheck linked in my signature.

The reason your posts didnt show up is because our anti spam system auto-moderated it (I think because you typed in wiihacks.com). Once your post count has increased the system wont do that.

Alright, I have just actually turned my wii off and back on and put in Okami to make sure it still works right xD Thankfully it did. Also, sorry about not posting in the introduction section to introduce myself..

I shall not uninstall anything and give your "Softmod ANY Wii Guide" a look through and also see about the System Check.

Thankfully it seems to be working well and nothing seems broken so.. I am still slightly frightened to go through and do this but I will look into it more using this site, not youtube or other sites. Thank you for your reply, I will do as you say and check a few things out before continuing ^^

I did the system check, it went well I think (as in I actually performed it) I posted the text I got from it, I hope it is okay... I am waiting for someone to reply to that before I do anything with my system

I am getting ready to go to bed for a few hours but apparently all/most of my cios or w/e are stubbed.. Is this bad/dangerous and did I do something wrong? (I think it is because I Haven't really gone far into the modding but it appears that I have been actually going along with the guide)

I only have a SD card that is 500Mbs or so.. Is that going to be enough for this process till I can use a usb for the rest? It states 1-2 gig SD card is best but I am hoping what I have will get me there to the point where I can just use my Flash drive ( I read something about it but not sure if I read right)

It just means that you did exactly what you said you did: You installed HBC and Bootmii, and nothing else. We can see that from the syscheck.

Continue with the guide, finishing it. What you did was only chapter 1.

500mb SD card is insufficient for the task at hand. The process itself would work with that capacity, but not for the NAND backup (which is 512mb and MANDATORY).

And when the guide tells you to use an SD card, you need an SD card. You can't just "use a flash drive" instead. You'll have to find a higher capacity SD Card.

Alright, I will look into getting a SD card that is 1-2 Gigs.

I am horribly glad that I haven't done anything wrong and I have gone through doing the correct things.. Sadly I'll have to wait till tomorrow to continue the process. I am honestly thankful for everyone here, the moral support and advice given here has helped remove some of my fears. I know someone who works with my Fiancee and he said it is easy to brick a Wii but I understand that there will be a possibility that this'll happen... BUT After reading a few things I feel a lot more confident that if I follow the guide word for word that this'll work.

So again, thank you all for your replies and I'll continue this process tomorrow! I am doing this because I got the wii for my Fiancee and I want to protect her games because her siblings play the wii and don't take care of things so... Annoying CDs which breaks/scratches/smudges/etc worry me. BUT! Again thank you all for your help and I'll continue going through the guide following it to the letter.

Oh I just looked at it again, the SD Card I have been using is around 900 Mb so.. Seems to be good enough for the Backup BUT I'll wait still for a little till I get the 1-2 Gig SD Cards.

900 Mb is plenty to do the mod. After you do the NAND backup you copy it over to your PC and then delete it from your card.

GOD you guys are wonderful, thank you all for your help ^^ It worked ( I think? )...

I finished the guide so it should work.. now I am trying to find out if my Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive (portable usb hard drive) is compatible and I looked, something with the pin which is similar but was 1TB instead of 1.5 TB wasn't compatible fully or something... This one is different so I am hoping it'll work just fine.

Here is my question, Mine is hdtc615xk3b1

This is what that one on the compatibility list says

    Spoiler

Now, does that mean it wont work? And to formatting/partitioning the device, do I have to remove all the data on it? Because I kinda have like... 200 + Gigs and it'll take a few hours it says to fully transfer (doing so now, just in case)..

Sorry for all the questions but I am thankful for everyone's hard work and advice ^^; Thanks for the help.. Really grateful.
