How to know the Wii version and firmware ?

    Hi all,

I am new to the Wii world,

I have bought an used Wii that supposedly plays recordable media, I haven't tested it yet, but I guess it has the wiikey2 chip installed.

I have been considering buying a Wode Jukebox to install myself, but I have heard that it doesn't work with some Wiis, depending on its version....please, how can I know the Wii's version (d2a,dms,d2b, d2c, d2d, d2e) and its firmware ?

Also, I suppose I should NEVER update the FW, right ?

    Thanks a lot,

    Mongao

You can use THIS to identify the drive chip. To find the system menu version simply go to the settings menu on the wii and it will be displayed in corner.
