    "Compatible" DIOS MIOS games?

Hi Wiihacks! Long time lurker here, first time poster looking for some help.

I've followed a number of the great guides on this site and have successfully installed DIOS MIOS on my Wii. All of the games in my library work extremely well with the exception of Mario Kart Double Dash and Super Smash Bros Melee. Mario Kart freezes after pressing start, and Smash Bros freezes when trying to start a match. I've also tried redumping both of these games and even playing them straight off the retail discs, the problems still happen. The thing I don't understand is, these games both work fine according to the DIOS MIOS compatibility list. Does anyone know what would cause these games to not work for me? I'm using the latest versions of both d2x and DIOS MIOS.

I had a theory that maybe these games need to be loaded with a different IOS. I know there's an option in Wiiflow to change what IOS the game is booted with but I don't know what the default one is or which other ones to try. Thanks for your help!

I had a similar issue with MKDD. It turned out I didn't have the latest version of DM. Grab the latest version from here and install that. It worked fine for me after that and it might fix the issue with SSBM as well.

And I just noticed that DM 2.7 was released. Awesome!

Thanks. I'll have to see what's new in 2.7

EDIT: Seems pretty insignificant. Fixed a bug that I've never triggered. Though, he is including the required .dll for DMToolbox, this time.

Alright I tried the new DM 2.7, but have the exact same problem. Could the version of d2x I'm using make any difference? I'm using what I believe is the latest version, beta53. Or should I try loading each game with a different IOS? I don't know which one I'd choose though. Any suggestions?

D2X has nothing to do with playing GC games (though I'm not sure where beta53 is coming from. We recommend v8final or sometimes the latest v9 beta). GC games don't load through IOSs. Anyway, you'll have to wait for someone with more DM knowledge comes along.

Everything dniMretsaM said is true. Your IOS/cIOS setup makes absolutely no difference when loading games with Dios Mios. The reason is that all that is required to load GC games is a Mios and BC file. All Wii's (as far as I know) have BC & Mios stock from the factory, when you install DM you only overwrite the Mios file.

Now Devolution on the other hand (the other well known GC USB loader), games do require more than just a Mios and BC file (theoretically with Devolution you don't actually need those but I'm not going to uninstall them just to check). I'm not entirely sure just how much more but I do know that Devolution loads GC games in Wii mode via the systems IOS/cIOS setup. For more information on Devolution you can check the guide in my signature, for more Dios Mios info you can look up its google code page or check out the DM guide in our guides section.
