I recently got my boys (kids) into Monster Jam monster trucks, when I play YouTube videos on the wii the screen dims like if there was no activity. Most videos I play for them are around 30-45 mins longs and it's quite annoying having to wake it so the picture comes back. I checked settings on YouTube but I found nothing to fix this issue... Any suggestions?

It's possibly your TV that's dimming automatically. II suppose it could also be a bug in the YT channel that's causing the Wii to dim itself, though I have no idea what you could do it that is the case.
I know when the remote de-syncs due to inactivity, any running game will pause and dim. I agree that the YT app should be detecting and allowing for this, but due to sloppy design/programming, it doesn't, and requires a remote to be on at all times. Only thing you can do is hit a button every few min to make sure it doesn't power down.
Or use another method for youtube viewing? :)
Nah not the tv because as long as it has signal it will not dim. Besides my tv does not dim, if there is no signal/activity it will give me warning telling me that it will automatically shut off in a couple of minutes or how ever long to save power/energy. Yes I know games do it because I've had it happen before. Sucks cause like I said the videos are long and I would like to keep them entertained and me not be there to wake it every couple minutes lol. I though it might be a wii issue but I used wiimc to put movies on for them and it works fine without dimming. I guess I can just plug my laptop to my tv but then that defeats the purpose of having them entertained so I can use my laptop lol
Oh and when I use wiimc the remote de-syncs but it still doesn't dim
Wait a minute that gave me an idea... It doesn't dim because it's reading the movies from my HDD right? Soooo... In theory if I had YT on my HDD this should fix the issue? :) can it be done?

That's what it's supposed to do, but there have been a few cases of it not working correctly. But since your TV doesn't dim, that kind of rules it out. :P As for why WiiMC doesn't dim, that would be because it was coded correctly. Apps like Netflix don't dim when the Wii remote disconnects, so it's just a fail on the part of whoever wrote the YouTube app. There might be another way to watch YT videos on your Wii, but I don't know what they would be.Quote:

I don't think that YT works in the Wii Browser, since it's based on a stripped down version of Flash 8. Pretty old now that Flash 11 is out.
Oh, off topic, but the Wii U YT app is worse. That's a case where you're better off using the Wii U Browser (HTML5-based) :)
