I'm an idiot and need professional help

The subject line says it all. Here's the bullet points:

• A little while back, I hacked my Wii. I was a complete newbie, and despite working in computers I had no idea what I was doing.
• I was successful, however, and soon had my games ripped and all that good stuff.
• Everything ran fine until, one day, I got some new home theater gear. All I did was unplug everything to move it around, and when the Wii was plugged back in, I no longer had a working Wii.
• Since then, my life has gone through a lot of transition through a move and a much busier work schedule. Sadly, I just don't have the time to work on fixing this Wii anymore.
• HOWEVER, it's pissing me off that I don't have my game saves. As stated already, I'm an idiot and I forgot to back up my saved games or I didn't know how.

What I'm looking for is someone to fix this Wii for me. I'm willing to pay, but I'm also not willing to ship my console anywhere. I'd like to do this in person, if possible, so you must live within reasonable driving distance of Washington DC.

Please accept my apologies if this kind of request is frowned upon on these boards, or if I posted this in the wrong section. I'm not sure where to go with this.

What state is your Wii in? full/semi-brick? Or can you get to a system menu?

Honestly, I don't remember. It's still in moving boxes because I haven't had the time to dig it out. This was the last time I posted about it here (wow, over a year ago now...).

My apologies, I forgot to mention that I would also pay someone if there was even some way to get my save games off in some usable form. Say, onto another used Wii :)

If I can fix it myself, I'd think about trying, but like I said I just don't have a lot of time and I feel like I'd only screw it up anyway :)

Remodding a wii won't do anything with the game saves. They will still be in tact.

Cool. I just wanted to mention it, in case the Wii was bricked and the game saves could still be...saved. Again, I'm more than happy to let someone else take a shot at this. Clearly I didn't do it correctly the first time :)

it depends on how the bricked-system is salvaged. if it's only partially, and priiloader is installed, you can still use it to get at HBC apps and get updated IOS/cIOS/menu installed, which will still preserve game saves.

If you have to blow up the NAND to fix it, then I don't know if the data can be saved before hand.

No. but you never answered my original question about the state the system is in. If you can get to a Wii Menu, you should be able to remod it as-is without having to worry about the worst case scenario, which is where you instantly went.

Heh, sorry about that. I'll try to get it set up temporarily and see what the condition is. I'll report back. Thanks for the responses, though!

I gotta say this... your title of this thread is certainly the most raw admission and entertaining thread title I've seen in awhile (I've changed some thread titles to this high calibur type of thing, lol). Realize, I'm not making light of your situation at all --- but I can appreciate the title, lol :)
