    Black screen&freezing on Wiimod startup

    Hey guys,

I got a wii 2 weeks ago and tried to softmod it last weekend using Mauifrog's softmod any wii guide. My original system menu version was 4.2U so I used Bannerbomb v2. Installed HBC, bootmii, and made a nand backup without any issues. Downloaded all the modpacks to a regular 2gb SD card and verified the checksums (no issues). Tried to install all 30 wads, 1 had an issue, went back and checked md5 sum again it was bad. Redownload that modpack file and tried again, no issues (yay!). Updated shop channel to v21, no issues.

    Updating Ios wads.

Here is where I started having problems. I tried installing the 25 ios wads and 4 failed to install:
    IOS-Update\IOS17-64-v1032.wad (error 1022)
    IOS-Update\IOS21-64-v1039.wad (error 1022)
    IOS-Update\IOS28-64-v1807.wad (error 1022)
    IOS-Update\IOS37-64-v5663.wad (error 1022)

I don't know why I did this but I then tried to downgrade to System Menu-4.1u-449 - USA.
I got two failed wads with 1022 errors (i didnt write them down which was stupid but I think they were):
    EULA-NUS-U-v2.wad
    Region Select-NUS-U-v2.wad

Installed priiloader (hoping that if I messed something up this would hopefully help me) with no problems, then I set all the recommended hacks.

I told my roommate not to mess with the wii because the guide said if you have an error at those steps dont turn it off, however the next day I found it he either didnt listen or forgot so it got turned off.

I redownloaded the ios updates files and system menu files thinking I had a bad download and would try to reinstall from new downloads. Check md5, no errors. Put SD card into wii and turned on. Wii has no issues turning on, loaded HBC, no issues, try to load Wiimod.... blackscreen, seems to be frozen, waited a few minutes, no change. Restarted wii and tried to load Wiimod again, same issue. Restarted wii and check system menu version, it now says its 4.1U.

I have tried doing some searching but I have not really found anyone who had the same problem.

I am hoping for some advice as to what to do now.
I accidentally left a wii game in the wii during softmodding, I'm not sure if that was a problem.

Thanks for reading and any help!

If files are getting corrupted between md5 hash checks, it may be a bad SD Card. But reformat it using the Panasonic SD Card formatter (full format, not quick) and try chapter 2 over again to see if that helps. If still fails, you may need to try a different card.

I can't open up wiimod without getting a black screen, is there a way around this?

Sounds like you semi-bricked your Wii due to the incomplete install. Are you able to get into Wii Menu enough to find the MAC address? Or if you can still run simple homebrew apps, google and fine "uname v0.3 for wii", install, and run that to get your MAC address.

Then check out this thread: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...am-freeze.html

See if you're able to use that information to get back to a working state.

I was able to access the mac address and followed the guide but once I started to install the wads in wiimod I got 4 errors.
All are 1022 errors saying "content did not match hash in TMD"
    Failed to install:
    IOS236.wad
    IOS31-64-v3608.wad
    IOS58-64-v6176.wad
    IOS61-64-v5405.wad
