I have a wii coming in today to soft mod, it does not read games any more and I have never used letterbomb before( always disc exploits) am I safe to assume that this method is exactly the same as far as the install of hb chan and boot mii? in other words is there ANY issues with this method, errors, ect? thanks in advance for the reply's cheers:003:
It's the method that I recommend. Once the exploit is triggered, as in disk-based games, then it will launch HackMii so you can install HBC and Bootmii. Once you get to that point, it's exactly the same.
We recommend following the "Softmode Any Wii" guide (link found in my signature). Modding a system is more than just installing HBC and throwing homebrew apps at it.
thats the only method for softmodding I use is the one here ! hasnt failed me yet! thanks for the reply good to know for future wii that cant read games!!, other than that, for the mac address, is internet connection needed for this or is the mac address always displayd? thanks again!
Internet access isn't required. Just the MAC address is. All Wiis other than the newest Wii Mini has a Wifi adaptor built in, so it has a MAC address.
That MAC address is used in the process to build a custom file for each system to place the exploit message into the calendar for you to open. Use the wrong MAC address, it won't show up.

Ahh. No, it's assigned to the hardware by the manufacturer. This is different than the IP address which is assigned by the network when connecting to the router.
