Using a Knock-Off For This Is Fail

    Hey guys,
I searched around a bit to see if anyone else had this problem and I didn't see anything, so I thought I'd post here. I softmodded my Wii using Mauifrog's guide, and installed Dios Mios & USBloaderGX using Pob3008's guide (i skipped the emulated NAND part). All wii games and gamecube games work great for me so far. I ordered a cheap gamecube memory card here. I tried to use it today to play several games and I get the error "device in slot A not recognized" or something along those lines, and I cannot save. I tried this with wiiflow, in slot B, with an original gamecube disc, and tried to see if the wii recognized it in the save data menu; it seems the card will not work in any scenario. Now, I am assuming that I just got a card that was DOA, but I wanted to check here and see if the softmod can have any effect on the memory card/save function for gamecube games?
    Thanks in advance

You probably got a "lemon", try getting either Nintendo Official or MadCatz. I too bought a no name card once and had the exact same problem. 10-1 it's the card, not the system. I suppose it could be a hardware failure but it just seems more likely that the card is bad, as far as I know the only things in the sysCheck that correspond to GC functionality are the Mios and BC files but even when I used DM to USB load my GC games (I use Devolution now) I could still use my memory cards.

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I figured, but since I'm new to this, I wanted to run it by the guys here first. I was under the impression that emulating the NAND can also be used to save games, but that it can be buggy. How reliable/easy is it to go the emulated NAND route for saving gamecube games? I don't know if I want to wait for this company in Hong Kong to send me another memory card that may not work.

EmuNAND can only save Wii games not GC, you'd still need a GC card. But with Dios Mios or Devolution you can use the SD card or your USB device to store an emulated memory card. The downside to that is you can't manage the game saves without Dolphin on your PC and not all games are compatible with emulated memory.

I'll have to check from home (iPhone wont let me see the spoilers) but last I read that thread (not skimmed), I didn't see anything about saving GC games save to EmuNAND or being able to manage GC game saves stored on an emulated memory card (Be it DMs NMM or Devo's emulated MC). I'll have check that thread again in case I maybe did miss something.

Ah, ok lol. So yeah, he skipped the EmuNAND section which is why he doesn't know about what it can and can't do...sorry, I mistakenly thought that was directed at me

Nope, he started delving into something he admittedly "didn't read/care about" (paraphrasing) and acknowledged the guide. Questions should always be made AFTER FULLY reading the guide, OP

(and even then, said question should be asked in the guide one followed).

re-read the pages following the USBloaderX guide, on page nine, DiscMurderer Answers my question:
There is an option called NMM, " No More Memory Cards ", it uses the SD card / USB drive to store saves, but it doesn't work with every game.
If you are using USB Loader GX, it should be in the Loader settings, if you use SNEEK/UNEEK, it should be in the DM(L) menu.
Hope its ok to post the followup for others that might have the same question.
