Is downgrading a Wii good idea?

While reading Softmod ANY Wii guide, I saw a suggestion to downgrade a Wii to 4.1x (I have 4.3e)... but in 'Brick Prevention- Things you should never do' thread and in some other I read that is not good idea to downgrade wii and can cause brick.

So,... I doubt in thah...Should I anyway downgrade it?
