Softmod ANY wii guide- is it valid?

    Hello!

I am planing to softmod friend's wii (4.3e, manufactured in 2012).
Yesterday I watched a video tutorial how to softmod wii with WiiBrand Launcher. Its really nice and new(it was uploaded on 26.12.2012), but it says you need wii remote without Wii motion plus inside. So, what does that mean? Is it ok if I softmod wii with wii remote motion plus?

    Removed Youtube Link!

Today I found a guide on your forum... Is it still valid? I've seen it was writen in 2009...but today is 2013...so, its updated and safe? And, can I do it with wii remote motion plus.

    Thank you

    I really appreciate your work.

No , I would not use that Guide as this person may not offer support.

Yes, the soft mod any wii guide is Valid and up to date and supports the new Wiimotes.
This guide is also safe to use, just make sure you follow it to a "T" and everything should run smoothly.
Please read that Guide few times, then proceed.

Take it from me who was an absolute noob with this stuff when I joined this site...and did a lot of looking around as to what the best way to mod was... The Softmod any Wii guide is by FAR the best guide out there. I have had no problems since I modded and everything works perfectly. I can't tell you how many people I see post on this site who have modded using another guide and have problems - and the solution always is - just use the Softmod Any Wii Guide (done by Mauifrog) and it fixes everything. Trust what Jax said... use that guide - you won't regret it.

You really should use a 1gb or 2gb SanDisk card.
You can try with that card , but if it's not compatible you should not have any bricking problems.
You just wont be able to do the soft mod with that card.

I've used the sanDisk 2gb card - refurbished on eBay for around $5 - ive bought 5 of them and they have all worked fine. Use that as a last resort if yours doesnt work.

    Ok I will try..

Now have another question about modding. In guide say that I should update Wii shop channel, but later in guide is a 'If ou are updating the Shop Channel to v21 do this' sub-guide with little complicated instructions. So, is necessary to update wii shop? I havent installed any wii shop chanel yet...and im not planing to use wii shop...
I hope you understand what I mean...
    Thank for reply

If you don't plan on using the Shop channel , then you don't have to install it.
    It's really up to you.

To answer OP's question another way, always look at the bottom of a given guide. If it's been maintained, should be fairly obvious. Witness this at bottom:

You should update the wii shop channel... if you don't update the channel and then you ever want to use it, it will prompt you to do a system update....which obviously you want to stay away from.

So put simply...do it. It won't hurt and it will avoid a potential update from an unknowing party..
