Injected VC game vs. ROM+emulator?

I was trying to play a Mario All-Stars+World injected VC game but the WAD didn't install (gave me a 1022 error so I guess it was a corrupt WAD; I got the PAL WAD to install for some reason but obviously that one wouldn't work on an NTSC Wii).

I've got a ROM for the game (have had it for years) so would it be easier/preferable to just download an SNES emulator and play the game like that? I would personally prefer it to be a channel on my Wii's interface but I'm not sure how well the game would run as an injected VC game.
