rip wii discs?

I have a PC thats at least 5-10 years old.. it has a Sony DVD rom drive and a hitacthi DVDR drive.. is there a a program thatll read wii discs from those drives (or ANY drive) and let you turn the disc into an iso (or wbfs)? i put a disc iin my drive and started up wii back up manager... went to disc drive.. and seelected the drive my disc was in and wii back up manager didnt fidn it.... i then tried it my other drive.. selected that drive and same results... then i did a search on the net found raw dump.. tried it with both drives and same results.

surely after all this time someone made a program thats a bit more drive universal right? I mean what about those ppl running Dolphin emulators on their PC for wii games? surely they didnt go out and buy an LG drive just to their PC drive could read Wii games now did they? lol

If your Wii is modded just use any of the loaders to rip them to your USB or (large) SD device. If your question is specifically how to do it on a PC then yes - I believe only the special LG drives read the discs.

The LG drives are it. As I understand it, it's a hardware thing. Ripping with a Wii is so easy though. Insert disc into a real wii, launch loader, choose rip - some time later you'll have a nice wbfs file on a hard drive, which you could then use on the computer w/ Dolphin/etc.

oh so i can use usb loader gx (for example) to rip my original wii games?

Yup. There should be an "Install" option somewhere (location varies by loader).

On USB loader GX, just insert the disc and hit the "+" button on screen (bottom left of the screen). On Wiiflow you have to put the cursor at the bottom of the screen so the hidden menu pops up, hit the Gears icon, then go to page 2/6 and hit install. On CFG Usb Loader it's in the menu somewhere... I dont recall where. But USB Loader GX is definitely the easiest.

I think CFG uses a shortcut like the 1 or + button. I've been meaning to ask the WiiFlow guys to implement something similar, but I haven't done it yet.

just outat curiosity dos GX rip them as wbfs or does it to it as iso.. or something completely different?

It rips them to USB:/WBFS/Game name/GAMEID.wbfs.

If you want them as an iso - just use the backup manager after you rip to your HDD and convert them.
