I'm using a Western Digital USB 3.0 drive with my Wii. No problems just needed to disable the sleep in the firmware.

How do you have your drive set ups using that drive? WBFS or FAT32 or NTFS?

    Thanks

Last I knew, 2TB was considered the Wii limit. Not sure if that's a cIOS limitation, architecture limitation, or some other factor at play. I have not kept up tho...

Edit: TB, not GB (it's late, I'm tired, and the onslaught of noobville has overcome my senses)

He does bring up an interesting point. As time has passed and capacities have increased, finding smaller capacity drives at a correspondingly lower price --- a lot harder. My 500GB drive (yeah yeah, typo in previous post lol) suits me well enough (or rather, my pesky kids). I will edit that post in a moment

yep, with the prices of them 500-750GB drives, for 30-40 dollars more can go to a 2TB drive, seems more economical to me to go that route, regardless if you will use all of it or not on the wii... and I have yet to try a usb 3.0 drive, remember when they first came out and all the issues there were with the wii, pretty much sealed the deal for me not to mess with them

cIOS issue, as time and experience (and superior coding) has demonstrated on the USB 3.0 front --- yup.

    CONFIRMED WORKING!

My setup is up to date with Guides Bot/mauifrog Softmod ANY Wii guide http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html
First partition FAT32 32kb clusters Primary Active 500GB

All three loaders Flow, CFG and GX recognize the partition but I have only experience with GX as far as gaming, themes, artwork, EmuNAND and DIOS MIOS.
I personally prefer USB Loader GX and can say that I have not had any issues at all. I have all my Wii games (obviously), artwork and EmuNAND on the drive. All the Wii games I have loaded seem to work flawlessly (22 games so far). My WiiWare/VC running from the EmuNAND (which is as up to date as my real NAND) runs great with the exception of a few WiiWare that just seem not to emu very well. DIOS MIOS v2.6 is a no go but Lite is working for me so that's a +. So far so good, good luck.

Thank you very much for confirming. I wanted to do the emuNAND thing too on the HDD. Can you point me to the thread(s) that helped you do it? Hopefully it is as easy and straightforward as the Mauifrog Softmod Guide.

    Thanks again.
