downloading wiiware/dlc to a softmodded wii, otherwise revirginizing

hey all.

i've spent some time googling, but alas, i'm not very savvy and the amount of different guides/advice is making my head spin.

form the beginning: i'm staying with my parents, and they have wii that's been collecting dust for years. since it wasn't being used, i decided to mod it. however out of the blue, my step-mom picked up just dance 4 and wants to get the gangnam style dlc.

i was wondering if (a) i could still download dlc on a softmodded wii (and what do i need to do for it to work), and (b) if there's a safe-ish and easy method for resetting the console to factory defaults.

Yes, you can download DLC on a softmodded Wii with no trouble. As for resetting it, why would you? There are millions of benefits to a softmodded. Anyway, there is a method to restore it, but it is very risky. You should read this and this.

so there isn't anything i need to do? it should work without a change of settings or installing/updating anything? i just want to be thorough. i may be an adult, but my step-mom is a one scary, asian bitch.

Yeah, go ahead and download it. If you still not sure backup your NAND before and then do it.

This is my identical problem. The wii is asking me to update the Wii Shop? How do I do that without going through nintendo's official update

well it is shame there isn't a guide here on this site to update your shop channel... :rolleyes:

As long as you followed the Softmod Any WIi guide here at this site, you'll be fine. The only time things get sketchy is when you go by what we affectionately call a Fail-Guide (which is, any guide that isn't here). I know from hard earned unyielding experience.
