After reading and studying about the Wii, some remaining questions.

Hello, this is my first post in this forum.
I recently adquired a Nintendo Wii and it was love at first sight.
So i went on to know if it was hacked and if not, how could i hack it, which brought me to this forum, where i started reading and learned a lot.

But i still couldnīt find the anwser to some questions, i was hoping you guys can help me with them:

1 - I want to play GameCube games, so iīm going to buy 2 WaveBird wireless controllers. Are they fully compatible with the Wii and DIOS MIOS? Also, do they have any use on the Wii itself, and not only when GameCube games are running? Like pausing/playing multimedia files, or more?

2 - Is WBFS similar to the CISO format on PSP games, where you can shrink the size of the ISO almost without loosing performance? Is the WBFS used nowdays only to shrink the size of backup images or is there any other reason to use it?

3 - Is there any advantage in buying a physical memory card since DIOS MIOS can emulate one? I wanna buy a GameCube generic 128mb memory card that fits my Wii. Will it be compatible with DIOS MIOS?

4 - Would i notice too much performance loss if i put a 32gb Kingston SDHC which is only Class 4? I read somewhere that the recomended is Sandisk at least class 6, but this 32gb kingston is the cheapest i can find here in Brasil right now.

    My Specs:
Red Wii with Gamecube controller ports.
    System Menu v4.3U
My wii came already softmoded to me, i updated BootMi, the Homebrew Channel and PriLoader to their respective latest versions.
Nand is backed up and safe on my computer.

    Thanks in advance.

    1) Yes, Wavebirds work with DIOS MIOS and will also work with select Wii games and many Virtual Console/WiiWare games. As for media playing uses I can't say for sure. WiiMC says that GC controllers are accepted so I would guess they will work for watching videos and playing music but I have not yet tried this myself.

    2) You pretty much summed it up yourself, WBFS it's just a shrunken ISO. It'll play the same as an ISO but will take less space on the HDD

    3) I'm pretty sure the biggest GC memory card is 16mb, but yes, any memory card should work with DM. Just get a trusted brand, I recommend MadCatz. I find having a physical memory card more convent but its not entirely necessary...the biggest reason I recommend it is that while many games will work with DIOS MIOS's No more memory feature there are quite a few that don't so having a real card guarantees you can save your games.

    4) There shouldn't be a loss in performance. Most apps have SDHC support by now so that should be ok. Though if you can find one I still recommend a 2gb or 4gb SanDisk

Also keep in mind being that you bought the Wii pre-modded, the softmod may be outdated by now. Unless you know at what point the system was modded you may want to go to the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide and start from "Softmods with Homebrew Channel already installed". This way you can update all your IOSs as well as the Shop Channel so you can continue to play your backed up games via USB and buy WiiWare/VC games in the Shop Channel.

If i buy just a USB case for some for some of my SATA 2.5' HDs i have here laying around, but the case is USB 3.0, altought it is compatible with USB 2.0, would it be OK?
I mean, does the Wii have any issues with 3.0 Hard Drives or USB Cases in general?

I'm not sure, I've never tried a 3.0 drive with it. As long as you have a 2.0 cable and the HDD is 2.0 compatible I would guess it should work but I can say for sure.

Snes master, if you could awnser just a few more doubts that i have.

I read that the cIOS doensīt overwrite the original system files when you softmod the wii, if just uses a high slot number so it can act apart from the rest of the system files.

Does that mean that i could play any of my backups games Online, since the original system files are still preserved? What i mean is, is there a way that Nintendo could detect that you are using cIOS and a USB loader instead of original protected discs and ban you from their network, or something like that?

I searched about playing online on a hacked wii, but even on this forum i couldnt find much that would anwser me, so iīm clueless.
What i noticed is that some games have the Multiplayer Options and asks you to connect to Wi-Fi, but i never went throught that point affraid that Nintendo would ban my Wii, just like it happens on a modded 360 (banned for life from xbox services)

Fear not, Nintendo is clueless and cannot ban you for a hacked system

You only need to worry about Nintendo screwing you if you try to update. So just make sure you use Priiloader to block online and disc updates.

Thanks so much for all your help, bro. This are all little questions that may go unnoticed when you are reading this much material about the Wii. Still i already managed to do lots of stuff, thanks to the help of people in this forum. Really appreciate it.

Just to let you know of my current situation here, i got Priloader already installed and setled. Got a backup of my NAND safe in my computer.
    System Menu version is 4.3U.
I run my apps and store my Wads on an 8gb kingston SDHC class 4, and I got a 150gb Hitachi 2.5" SATA HD i had laying around here in my house and put it on a USB enclosure, and now my Wii got a 150gb usb drive.
Already copied my Originals into to it and its running perfectly!

And today i updated the Homebrew Channel and the Wii Shop Channel to their latest versions. BootMi is also updated.
Also i bought wheel on dealextreme for racing games, and a original Zapper for shooting games (even came with a original disc)
So now finally my Nintendo Wii is really starting to look neat.

Only thing now is figuring out if im already using the latest modpack.
Is there any way to check out if iīm using the latest mod (letterbomb) ?

Look for a app call SysCheck and use that, it will scan all of your IOS and output them to a csv file, copy and paste the contents here and I'll look it over and let you know.
