    How to update Softmod in a Wii without bricking the *#&$ out of it?

    I bought a softmoded wii last year. And there are some issues now when I've changed my Hard Drive partition to fat32 instead of wbfs, I can't play anything any more with default ios which is 249 I think. (of cores I could format that HDD to wbfs and use it again, but I can't at the moment)

    Also there is that outdated Preloader installed, So I can't use home-brew channel from Preloader screen any more(after updating Homebrew Channel to newest version), so I would have to update to Priiloader.... and I have no idea how to do it without bricking the wii, I couldn't find any tutorial nor guide on internet past this year on how to update to Priiloader from Preloader, and there is the 3rd issue,. Shopping channel after update to v21 Isn't working.

    So it came to my mind to learn how to Update my softmod so everything would be up to date and working fine. But I want to be EXTREMELY careful with it so I won't touch ANYTHING without your advice.

    But... there is a problem, I can't find anywhere a guide to updating softmod... Only installing a new from start, when console is not modded at all :/
    (like this one -> http://www.wiihacks.com/general-home...d-any-wii.html )

    So I'm completely in the black... and I also don't know how to update the shopping channel =_=

    If you need my Wii OS version number I can write it, just ask. And about the colour of the Wii, It's Black, Black Wii.

    Please assist me with this procedure.

    PS: I don't want to update my Wii Operating system, just update the softmod. I want to stay on the version that is installed there now, it is Ver. 4.2E
    PS2: Preloader version that I have -> v0.30

    From what ive seen. Just use the softmod any wii guide you got linked there.

    Start from the start and it will overwrite all your hacks to the latest stuff.

    Im not an expert so wait for someone to confirm. But this is what ive seen is the process no matter if your wii is hacked or not.

    Remember to remove any games,usbs etc.

    To update the wii shop channel, use the Wiimod app (which is included in the modpack) and select "channels", then scroll throught the channels list to find the shop channel, make sure "latest" is highlighted then press A. (I didn't do it this way myself, but I have read that it is possible to do it this way).
    JUST BOUGHT A WHITE WII U! ID is uglyguy

    Yes remove any games from the dvd drive. And your usb drive.

    The guide were talking about is very good. It reminds you to remove this stuff. If you follow the guide to a T it tells you exactly what to do.

    Anytime you change USB HDD format just update or replace the USB Loader apps on your SD with new ones because it was set to use the wbfs partition.
    Try wiiflow v4.0.4 or CFG Usb loader v70 update to CFG Loader r49 or usbloader GX update to R1204. The latest GX is in the bottom of this pageUSB Loader GX,Replace the boot.dol in your SD /apps/ usbloader_gx with the updated one ( r1204_IOS249)
    Install USB Loader GX -UNEO_Forwarder Channel 5_1_AHBPROT.wad for USB Loader GX channel and Default-FIX94v14b-forwarder-DWFA.wad for wiiflow channel
    Sometimes just removing the CFG or settings file from the USB Loader apps gets rid of the issues.

    You can install Priiloader over Preloader.

    Just install the newer revision of priiloader over the old one

    I was using the newest version of CFG Usb Loader because it has update function in it.

    I have read that whole wii softmoding guide and it seems it is update friendly and I'm in process of doing all of this (Just starting Chapter 2 at this right moment)

    And about that usb loader, it was saying that i need newer version of one IOS, i think it was 49 something, or only 49, I had revision 17, it needed rev. 18 or newer. And because of that any game didn't worked.

    Thanks for that priiloader link, if installing over the old one will work and it seems it will as i read in details that Guide I've posted in 1st post, then all should be fine. The only thing I'm worried now is that When i was doing a Nand backup of my wii on 09-07-2012 It didn't found any bad blocks, as I don't remember finding any and if it Did I would remember cuss I've sit in front of TV back then scared as sh***.

    Now it found 9 bad blocks, but I've heard "It's ok" while doing a quick google, and "Nothing to worry about" O.o

    BootMii website and people on this forums post that factory says that up until 80. But /Me/ Worries where did those bad blocks came from, they weren't there like a year and some months ego :/ And I plan a long life for this wii just as I plan a long life for my PS2 which is with me for all those years (I still have a games i need to clear on ps2 xD)

    For safety measure I'm gonna keep both copies of Nand, the one from back then without bad blocks, and this one.

    New USB Loaders needs IOS249[56]-d2x-v8final and IOS250[57]-d2x-v8final for the games. If you are still having issues with CFG USB Loader try removing the CFG.file from usb-loader folder on your SD and check the CFG USB Loader settings on the wii or try the other USB Loaders and see which one you like.
