Removing Homebrew 4.3 from Wii help

    Hello, everyone.

I am wanting to know how to restore my Wii (revirginize) back to it's original state. I haven't used any Homebrew related items in a while, and there is an update to the Wii Shop Channel that's preventing me from buying points. Rather than install more updates and patches to get around this, I figured since I'm not using it to just go ahead and delete it.

I see a lot of results from 2009-2011 about 4.2, but not about 4.3U. Since I also have not used Homebrew related hacks in a while, I'm not as familiar with any of the "lingo" as I used to be . I do believe I have cios and Priiloader installed, and I have heard about bricking with patches from Nintendo a lot more than other applications. If there's any more information you need, I can check my SD card for those files.

Like I said, I'm not as familiar as I used to be, so don't attack me for not being as sharp as you guys . Please respond quickly.

    Thank you,
    PKRockinOmega

It's very easy to just update the Shop Channel (without updating anything else) but if your REALLY want to remove the mod, there's a guide on WiiHacks, I'll post the link in a few.

Also, Nintendo can only brick your Wii if you install one of their updates. If you update the IOS/cIOS and everything yourself there is very little risk of bricking.

Thanks, SNES_Master. I, fortunately, did install IOS/cIOS (IOS236, cIOSX rev20, and some others) and I'm glad it won't be a major bricking problem.

You said that Nintendo can brick if I install an update. If I fully uninstall EVERYTHING, will I be able to do that again or will there have to be a way to avoid it?

Like I said, thanks for assisting me. I was thinking everyone would be out because it's Thanksgiving. XD

Read the guide I linked VERY carefully and it should explain everything. If your Wii is soft modded and you do an official update (via disc or online) Nintendo can potentially brick your system, from what I've read it's not a guarantee but it can happen. That's why it's recommended that if you Softmod you install Priiloader and BootMii, these programs offer high level brick protection, particularly Priiloader since it can block online and disc updates. Blocking a disc update is very useful if your on a lower menu (say, 4.1) and you want to play a game that normally would try to force an update to a higher menu (say Zelda Skyward Sword with the 4.3 update). With Priiloaders block disc updates the game will load without trying to force you to update.

Should you decide to follow the guide I linked you should be able to use the official update methods again without worrying about bricking, but again, I strongly recommend reading the guide very carefully so you can get all the information you need.

One last bit, you'll never be able to send your Wii to Nintendo for repairs. Even with the mod removed they still have a way they can see it and if they detect a mod was ever present on the system they will not repair the system.

    I believe so :P
People should really start posting in the proper sections...and using the search function. But who am I to deny someone assistance when I can?

I never fault someone for helping, we all appriciate it.

sometimes these are just mistakes frm folks who are frustrated with their situation and do it under general stress and confusion. other times it can offer insight into how much effort is actually being made by the person, if and when they cannot be bothered to take the time to read and place their topics in a relevant forum section.

there was a time when I first joined that there were no realtime feeds. A post like this would often be ignored for weeks.

Hey, quick question, SNES_Master. The Prestep from the guide said to run a System Check. I did so, and I did not receive a .csv file on my wii. It asked me which IOS to find, and I said all, so that could be why, but I'm not sure. Think you may know why?
