Once you format your sd card and do as it says below in the spoiler those wads(58/61) will install to the wii's nand.
It's always good to make another back-up of your nand with bootmii, but yes you can just install the HBC and exit the Hackmii installer.
Please read the guide a few times, then proceed.

Make sure you turn on Region free and use the "Force to XXXX" option...XXXX = your region.

Nope, say you have a NTSC-U Wii and your trying to play a PAL game, using disc default will make the game run as PAL, even with region free on your games will look weird. You'll see once you choose video mode force to region that the video should display properly. Only use disc default if its a game from the same region as your system but still doesn't display right.

A perfect example is my rip of Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 (GameCube) both my system and game disc are NTSC-U yet when playing the game with USB Loader GX + Devolution the colors and audio were distorted and the frame rate was choppy...green squiggly lines appeared at the top and bottom of the screen. Once I choose video mode "Disc Default" this fixed the error. But when I play one of my Japanese game imports I still need to change the games individual settings to "Force to NTSC"

Sorry if I made that explanation a little complicated but I'm running on 4hrs sleep

Long story short: Imported games need to be forced to your region or they won't look right

Also yes, post a new sysCheck so we can see if your IOS check out ok or if there's still an error to resolve. You may also want to try USB Loader GX as it has more settings than Config USB Loader so it may work better for you.

IOS for my USB loader GX uses 249, and yes, force the games to your SYSTEM region. NTSC system playing a PAL game? Choose "force to NTSC"

Look into Wii Backup Manager, I think it is MAC compatible.
