Is my wii modded? Newbie needs help!

Hi! I've been scanning and searching the forums for an answer to my problem but I don't understand a lot of the terms and couldn't find a complete solution. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

I recently purchased a used wii online and everything was working fine until I tried to play a newer game. The disc channel when I insert the game, says Software Update required. So I tried to update it, error code 32004 came up. So I went to nintendo support and tried the internet connection solutions. The wii connects to the internet fine every time I do a connection test. Then I saw the thing about "error may appear if Wii has been modified...". In my naivety, I never even thought the wii could have been modified.

So the short version: My Wii is running 4.2u, how do I tell if it has been modified (I don't see any unusual apps on the home screen...)? And if it has been modified, how do I unmodify so that I can play my newer games?

Try holding in the reset button as you power on your Wii. Kinda sounds like it has priiloader installed. If it is, it should open up when you hold the reset while powering up the Wii.

I held reset and this came up:

System Menu
Homebrew Channel
BootMii iOS
Launch Title
etc

IOS v70, priiloader v0.4 (r78) Priiloader is a mod of Preloader 0.30

I don't play it often enough to warrant keeping it hacked, is it possible to undo this?

You can go into priiloader, open system menu hacks and disable block disc updates and disable block online updates and if there are any others that are enabled. After that save settings. When you go to play the game you should beable to update to 4.3.

When I open system menu hacks, I get "Failed to mount FAT device Can't find Hacks.ini on NAND"

It is possible you don't play your Wii more often because it wasn't hacked ;)

In any case, you should still be able to play games as you normally would from the disc on a modded Wii

(I thought Priiloader ensured that the modded Wii completely bypasses disc-sourced System update prompts ??)

To change Piiloader setings you need a file called "hacks_hash.ini" you can find it in this thread

you will also need an sd card.

You should think about just updating your mod then you can play the latest games and more.

Thanks, I'll try this! If I wanted to, how would I go about updating the hack? And if I did update it, would I be able to play my legally purchased games? (ie. how would I avoid this problem again?)

Okay so I tried downloading hacks_hash.ini and put it on an SD card. When I went to system menu hacks, everything was already disabled. I hit save settings and put in the newer game. Error code 32004 still comes up. It couldn't be an internet problem could it? Each time a do a connection test, it's successful. I even updated it once right after I got it and it worked fine...
