Connecting wii via computer PSU - Wii Mod

Hi all, I have two wii's so I'm planning on modding one of mine. The goal is to use a molex to SATA converter, snip two wires, and solder them to the wii's cable (past the brick part) so it can plug in to the wii. I've gutted my second wii and placed it in my PC case (It's a huge case, and It fits perfectly in there with my PC.) Basically, I know that the molex would power it, and the power will be coming from the 12v rail. I know that two molex's can be used to create a 6 pin GPU connector which is 75 watt. So I'll hypothesize that one molex connector outputs around 37.5 watts. I've read that the wii will use 15 Watts maximum, so I believe that one connector should be enough. However, before I do this, can anyone just confirm that this is indeed the max wattage output a wii can deliver?

Great idea :) I don't know how it could be possible (yea - electricity + phisics are for lot of people piece of cake) but love to see the result :)

A Wii post adapter wattage is 44.4 (12v 3.7A). The power going to each strand out of your power supply depends on the wattage of your supply, not the individual strand. Some strands have 3 or 4 connectors. But all strands are connected to the same place inside your supply, so the wattage is not limited by a supply to the strand itself, it is limited by the gauge of the wire. Look at the label on the side of your supply and it should tell you what it outputs.

I'm just updating this... I got a sheet of perspex and I'm going to cut it to the same dimensions as a DVD drive, then place the wii in there, so I can screw it in my drive bay, plus it would be a cool looking wii case :)
P.S. I DON'T have a drive in this wii, all games will be loaded via usb. I will cut two rectangular holes in a removable PCI-E cover and there will be a usb to usb cable running from the wii to there bridging my wii's USB connections so I can still plug in an external hard drive to the wii. Furthermore, I'm probably going to get rid of most of the cord on the wii sensor bar and solder it to a battery holder, that way it can be used on any wii, and I won't have to have a cord dragging by my computer all the time.

Just an FYI, you will have to at least have the drive board installed, otherwise usb loading will not work.

Hmmm... could I potentially use uneek+DI in order to load the games without a drive motherboard?

Yeah, I believe I could do that. The way I'm interpreting it is that by using neek, you're ALSO emulating the dvd drive, which means that it won't fail to the load the games. Can you confirm this or deny?

Sorry, I personally dont have any experience with uneek, so I cant say for certain. You don't need the whole drive to be there, just a functional board.

Well i'll try this method first, since I bought this wii without a dvd drive, so I don't have a spare one (other than in my black Wii, which I need) :(. In the meantime, if anyone could confirm that uneek method works, that would be great. Thanks.

Just updating the thread (sorry for double post) to tell you guys that I successfully made a molex to wii adapter and I powered my wii via my computer, here's a picture showing the adapter, and here's a picture of my wii and computer both on:

Also, I cut 5 pieces of perspex to the same dimensions as a DVD drive, so I'm going to put the wii in that and screw it in to the dvd drive bay :) I'll post pictures when I'm done.
