    Recovering From a Brick

Now that I am learning how to use the Homebrew channel and applications. I am unclear on how to unbrick my Wii if this happens. I made a nand backup with Bootmii. Do I need Preloader? And what is the best method to prepare for a brick? Thanks

HAHA....you should not plan on bricking! You should have priiloader, especially if your wii in not boot2. I guess the best method to prepare for a brick would be to follow you tube videos and random web sites. The best way to prevent a brick would be to stick to wiihacks and follow directions

One thing I am looking to start doing is installing wads. From what I have been reading this could cause a brick due to corrupted wads. So I am looking to be prepared if this happens.

Some great links there. Thanks very much. One question: I installed cIOS d2x-v7 and altered some base and slot settings to get USB loader gx working. I followed the steps from another site before I found this forum. so the question is - can I follow the steps in the link posted above to install preloader? I remember reading that you shouldn't install preloader if you altered your IOS.

Yes that will be fine, install priiloader not preloader.

Priiloader got it! I am on vacation now but when I get back I am going to get my geek on. I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks.

EDIT: I now have Priiloader running and I am much more comfortable with my Wii now that I can save it from a brick.
