Hi.
I recently bought a Seagate external HDD to backup some games I own. I formatted it to WBFS with WBFS Manager and it's been working great. However, I recently formatted my computer, and since then it can't detect the HDD. It doesn't show up on My Computer, nor at Disk Management or WBFS Manager. I suspect it's because of the WBFS format, but I really don't know how to fix it.
My OS is Windows XP SP3.

Not sure why that would be but you could try Wii Backup Manager or you should think about formatting the wii drive to fat32 and make you life easier.
You re installed your windows OS correct? Since you have windows xp it could be a driver problem, Even if the external hard drive is formatted to WBFS it should show in disk management and ask you if you want to formatted before using it, do you have access to another computer? just to make the hard drive still working, in windows 7 it should ask you to format the drive before using it.
You're right, I did reinstall XP. And I don't have access to any other computer.
I'm pretty sure the drive is working, though. It works just fine when connected to the Wii, it makes no strange sounds and that little green light is on. The only problem is that it doesn't show up anywhere on the computer, as I said.
I would really, really appreciate any help you guys can give me, I spent ages saving up for that hard disk ._.

Oh sorry, I forgot to reply to that one. Well, I already have Wii Backup Manager, but how is it going to help me if the hard drive is not even detected by the computer?
Try a different usb port?
Are you sure it doesn't show in disk management as an unallocated disk? "grey out"
Yes, I've tried all the "obvious" solutions like that, restarting my computer, changing the USB port and cable. Nothing seems to be working.
EDIT: Yeah, I'm sure, the only things showing up there are the computer's hard drive and the DVDRom thingy.
I know for a fact that xp can be a pain in the.... well you know, especially when it comes to new hard ware because of the drivers, without having access to the pc is hard to diagnose the issue, I have an old xp system, let me mess with it and see if I can come up with something that could help.... till then..... well just keep trying different things.
Ok.... i found a couple of things you can try...
1. If the external hard drive is plug into a surge protector, unplug it and plug it directly into the outlet in the wall... see if that changes anything, if not try number 2.
2.go to control panel.. under network connections disable firewire 1384, if you don't see 1384 disable 1394 if available and restart the pc.
Let me know if either one does anything....
