    Newbie help please

Ok heres the story, I have a softmodded wii that I have not used in a bout 2 years, I want to start using the wii again, will I need to re mod it? if so where should I begin, I basically want it set up so my kids can play my backed up games that i have on DVD rather than from a HDD.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

Perform mauifrog's Softmod ANY Wii guide (link in my sig). If applicable, start with "Softmods with Homebrew Channel installed." It will overwrite and update your previous softmod. Don't worry about deleting anything.

Thanks for the quick informative responses guys, is it ok to follow the whole guide and do it all again rather than following for the (Homebrew channel already installed) or should I just follow the steps in that section, I think what i would like to do is reset the whole wii back to factory standards and start a fresh, is that possible?

Don't worry about resetting your Wii to factory settings. If you want, follow the whole guide from the start.

You'll understand when you complete the guide. Also, log in to the WiiHacks IRC. No need to waste forum space for small things like these.

Ok I have followed the guide and everything went well, but.... when I try and run backup games on dvd via Neogamma, I get a message like " could not read disc please refer to your wii manual"

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Maybe your Wii has one of the newer D3-2 chipsets which does not allow you to play backup DVDs. You can load from USB, however. Do you have a coloured Wii (black, blue, pink, red, etc.)?
