    Nintendo Repair after softmod?

I started softmodding my wii to transfer all my stuff from my my old broken wii to a replacement one I bought used at Gamestop and so I could backup my games because several were starting to have read errors due to scratches. I actually used a repair machine to successfully buff out scratches and repaired several games so I could now back them up. However I couldn't get SSBB to work....I know it worked when I originally got the used Wii but I got no luck now which I thought was due to some minor scratching. I tried a pristine copy of Metroid Other M and it didn't read either so I am assuming the console just stopped reading Dual Layer. I ordered an official cleaning kit which I heard sometimes fixes this problem.

However I have seen lots of people say Nintendo will fix this problem for free even on out of warranty consoles. Should I call them up and see if they will fix it or would they find out my console is modded if I send it to them and then charge me or refuse to fix it?

Nintendo might try to charge you for this, saying it might have something to do with the soft mod.
That's a load if they do, either way you would have to take the soft mod out and even then they could tell.(If they Check for Such.)
Soft mods leaves a trail, since you own the games you should get those games from a trustful site/source.(This would be another Option.)
Be careful if you decide to Download copy's of the Games you Own.

I am not telling you to Download Games, Just telling you what your option's are.
I do believe you have a right to do so , as you do Own those Title's.
We are not responsible if you get caught downloading as well.....This is a grey area.

Hmm, If they give me grief I could always play dumb since the console was purchased used.

Hopefully cleaning will fix it. I guess I could consider downloading, I didn't know their was a trustful site/source for that.

You suggest to remove softmod if sending it in....I used the softmod any wii guide from this website, what do I have to do to remove the softmod?

You would have to remove the soft mod or they might charge an outrageous repair price.
We do have a Guide to remove the soft mod, but we don't recommend doing so, as it can brick your wii.link->Remove Soft Mod From Any Wii.

That's why I told you about the other option.
Yes, there are trustful sites, but most of them are private trackers and you will need to be invited.

Wii still not working on dual layer discs after cleaning......Is there any cios related to dual layer support? Any other tricks to get the thing to work?

I emailed Nintendo to see if they would fix it for free. Thinking about checking witht he Gamestop I bought it from too but I have already had the thing for several months.

Try loading those games with Cios222/223.

Good news! Hopefully they don't find the Softmod. And if they do, let's hope they don't care.

Well they are not going to fix it. It has nothing to do with the softmod, it is because it is a gamestop refurbished console. They say they won't work on it because gamestop opened it up and they don't know what they did to it.

Its probably the laser lense. You can get a new one and a triwing screw driver on the ebays for less than $10.
