yes it most certainly is! I would buy the wii, not only can it play original game cube games but mod chips like the wiikey fusion are rairly easy to install. the only downside is you need a game cube controller for most (if not all games). if you can spend the 10 bux at a used game stop for one. also you can mod both the wii and GC but modding the wii will also allow you to play game cube games. I highly reccomend the wiikey fusion, easy install and update. please let me know if i can help you any further. also the fusion works with all drive types, some are limited so google the wiikey fusion guide etc. do you know what chipset you have? this could help aid your decission as some new chipsets are not working with region free compatibility. message me if i can be of any help

sry to repost but once you mod your wii you can play GC with no problem and back up wii games plust both disc version.

in my opinoin the wii with wiikey fusion is the best bet. you can play original wii games, original gc games. with the wiikey fusion you can load GC or Wii games from an sd card of your "back up games" depending on the chipset some option are disabled, after D2C i believe you cannot load backed up games to dvd, but the sd card is aweeesome! you can still play original games but if you "acquire backups" you can play them straight from dvd if you have an early chipset, if not all backups need to be played through the sd card but wiikey keeps up to date, prevents auto update and makes it easy. also updates can be obtained from their site. long story short the wii will do everything game cube will do and more, and both types of games can be played via sd card with the wiikey fusion. also, updates can be installed from an sd card and are quicker than the wasabi chip. i guess but the wii since it can do everything game cube can do and more. please let me know if i can help you with anything else

agreed, a few dont but usually but i have found if found in the right format (genarally WBFS or ISO) i have no problems, it is a program that comes with the wii key fusion and makes conversion very easy. IBe6Uep does make a quite valid point, some are not gc compatible but i have found most are if you but a GC controller and dl the right format to an sd card.

In my opinoin hard mods and soft mods are very different. Some love soft mods because you can plug in an external hdd and load ur games on there and no extra hardware is usually required. i have heard the update process (u know when they say update or you cannot play the game?) the hard mod prevents updates while allowing you to play games, they update their firmware often to help this. soft mods can be quicker but the possibility of bricking your wii is scary if you're not used to modding. also a hard mod mods the dvd drive and is harder to detect. if you use a hardware mod you are safer and comes with safe updates. softmods can be really awesome at first i have found but anytime you mess with software i believe that it is much easier detected. the wiikey fusion was a 20 min install for my buddy who cant tell a disc drive from a motherboard. i am die hard hard mod fan but some prefer soft. i believe hardmod is safter, easily updatable and not having to to deal with the software issues of a softmod(even though it says you may bright your sytem, if you miss one step it may not brick but instead not function right. wiikey fusion is the obvious choice

its preference, soft mod can do more but if you plan on accessing online anything i would stay away it is easier to detect software mods than hard mods. hope this hleps

Softmod is free and works good
Newer wiis don't have gamecube support, just look for gc controls ports on the side.

Sorry but I don't agree with that you can play online just don't have cheats on. I play Mario Kart on line all the time. As far as updates install Priiloader to block them and you use this great site to great them.
I have a five year old who plays a softmod wii all the time and have had no problem with it.
