Exclamation Odd problem reading backups with new HDD..

I recently just re-softmodded my wii, brought it to 4.2u, and i already had a WiiKey chip.

Everything worked great. Then my external USB HDD enclosure died.. so I had to get a new one. Ended up getting a whole new external USB HDD from Toshiba and the old HDD is sitting on a shelf.

I am able to read normal games, and copy them to the HDD via USB Launcher... However, it won't read backups. Nor will the Wii dashboard. Nothing else has changed, no changes to all the softmod hacks that i can tell, etc.. SD card is still inserted, homebrew works..

WTF.. What gives? How can I remedy?

Interestingly enough, it can read games I recently backed up to dvd.. just not ones I backed up months ago. Weird.

Is it a fresh install of your loader? If not try removing the config file for the loader.

It was a fresh install when i did the softmod, about a month ago... before the HDD swap.

Only thing that will read the games (but load install to HDD from disc) is wiiflow.

Has the naming convention changed? Try using Wii Backup Manager to look at your drive. Look at how the working games are set up, then set WiiBackup Manager to automatically update the storage convention.

Sent using the WiiHacks app. Please excuse the brevity, punctuation and spelling.

I can check, but unsure how this relates to the wii reading backup disks..?

The wii is just not reading the disks anymore. Put it in, says invalid disk. Whatever is on the HDD, can be read. Its getting it from disk to HDD (or playing the disk drectly) that isnt working.

Having back up disc , I would just rip them with the computer and transfer them to the HDD from the Computer.
You really want to save your Disc Drive from the stress of ripping them anyway.
Unless you can't read the disc from your computer, then I would say it's those disc's that are gone.

Is there an app on the PC that I need to run to be able to read the Wii disc? Or can any of the WBFS managers for the PC read them?

If this works, it gets me around my current issue - However, I'd still like to find out why, all of a sudden, older discs wont read but new ones will. Am I missing a wad?
