How to fix "Exception (DSI) occured!"error?

Hello, I am not very proficient with hacking my brother's wii for him. It is a black wii version 4.3U. I have actually downloaded the homebrew channel previously using the letter bomb method. I deleted the channel because it wasn't working right. Well, I tried again and I get the "Exception (DSI) occurred!" error whenever I try to Install Hombrew Channel. So I figured I could try something else. Low and behold my brother has Lego Batman (he has kids). So this time I use the ModMii app thing. ... Same error comes up. I have however noticed a difference between the video they show me and what my system is doing.
    My system says:
BootMii: Can only be installed as an IOS
    The installed boot1 version prevents a boot2 install (-2)
    rather than
    BootMii: Can be installed.

I have no idea what I am doing at this point. Please help if you can

Newer Wii's cannot install BootMii as boot2, they can only install BootMii as an IOS. This will still allow you to hack the Wii, but it doesn't allow you the safeguards of restoring previous NAND backups should you "brick" the Wii. Since you admitted that you don't know what you're doing, my suggestion would be to not do it. Never do any Wii hacking if you don't have at least a decent clue as to what you're doing and cannot risk the chance of bricking your Wii.

If you're really serious about going down this road (from which there is no turning back) then the only suggestion is to read the Softmode Any Wii Guide. Read it. Read it again. Read it one more time. Don't skip any part of it that you do not understand. Don't gloss over the acronyms or words that you're not familiar with, but rather, hone in on those. Embrace that which you don't know and learn as much as you can about them. The more you know, the better your chances of having a successful outcome will be.

Put a copy of the Softmod ANY Wii guide in your bathroom.

I believe you misunderstood what I meant by "I have no idea what I am doing at this point."
This does not mean 'in general', but rather it is relating to the "Exception (DSI) occurred!" that I keep getting no matter what kind of hack I use.

Try a different sd card. And make sure it is formatted to fat32.

Use a Sandisc 2gb or less. I use this one: and has never failed me on over 100 Wiis.

I just noticed that you mentioned a "video".... are you following a YouTube guide or something other than the tried and true guide on this site? I wonder if this is an issue caused from having the HBC on there previously, and then deleting the channel. Do you still have the original HBC files on your SD card from the first install?
