    HDD taking forever to load

Hi, i've soft modded my wii using the "softmod any wii" guide in this site. everything works flawlessly. Except for Xenoblade Chronicles which i am loading off my HDD. The game literally takes 10 minutes on each loading screen. Especially frustrating when I die in the game...... its 10 minutes all over again. the game actually works though. there are no bugs or black screens, and i can play perfectly. Ive tried loading the game on USB loader GX, CFG, Wiiflow, and the loading times are still exactly the same. could it be my hard drive? Any ideas? thanks!

I used to have TONS of issues when I formatted my drive in the WBFS format. Games would work, then they wouldn't and I'd have to re-rip them constantly. Mario Kart was *the* thorn in my side, for sure. Once I formatted the drive to FAT32, all (well, 99%) of my problems disappeared. Now it's running great.

My suggestion would be to reform the drive to FAT32 (then you won't need your SD card anymore, either). Even if that's not the issue, I've found it to be a much more stable and robust file system. And play around with the IOS that the game uses. I found that CoD would sit at the initial "Load" screen indefinitely with IOS 248, I switched that sucker to 250 and "BOOM" the stars aligned and all was right with the world again....

No. Saves are stored on the wii itself.

Hey guys. sorry if this seems like reviving a dead thread. But the issue came back up again. This time its showing a completely black screen. I dont think it was a freeze because it still shows the "communications with the wii remote have been interrupted" when i take out the batteries. And this shows at the black screen which i just told you about. I've formatted my drive to FAT32 as suggested by BabyDaddy, so its no longer WBFS. and my HDD is a Seagate GoFlex 500GB if that helps. Sorry about the problems...

i have had trouble with seagate i think thats your trouble. However the one i had did work better in the top port, in order to use the top port for games you need the latest ios222 and boot usbloadergx from ios222,you will also need to change the usb port settings in the usbloadergx settings. if this dosent help get a western digiatl hdd I use a 1 TB MY BOOK HDD AND IT works fast with no troubles. so any way the wd hdd is the way to go. and if 222 doesnt work try 223.
