Hey jax, all seems to of worked well on the installs. I will test the HD in a little while and let you know for sure that it works (it should, i followed the instructions exact!)

I got one question tho, the last part where it installs the usb loader, neo gammer etc. Do i always need the SD card in the Wii for them to run? Or did this install it on the Wii itself ?

If they didnt install to the Wii, then i will need to use another SD card to install any apps such as emulators, that are not HDD compatible ?

    Thanks again !!

Edit ... i tried loading a game via usb HDD i have a seagate freeagent GO. Is that compatible. ?
If not i also have a Lacie rugged drive, laying around .. and a WesternDigital one also.

Everything is installed to the SD card and all apps are run from the SD card except the ios's. These have to be installed unto the Wii.

If it helps, the Homebrew channel, where everything is run from, is installed on the SD, not the wii.

And yes, seagate freeagent GO is compatible because that's the one I use!

Yes you need to keep the SD in because that's where the boot.dol file is. I.e. the program that's being run. i.e. the loader itself.

Is your USB formatted to the correct format that the USB Loader you are using recognizes?

Hey CW, Well, i just did some quick research. But this is what i initially did,

I formatted it then loaded the games onto it via .wfsb manager.
The research i did quickly just now, i see that some people said, that i need a WFSB folder in the root of the HDD,then place the games into it, that i know i did NOT do.

But, Now my comp, (i run vmware windows 7 on a mac), doesnt recognize the HD. (mac or the vmware, i suppose because of the format that was done in wfsb manager)
And wfsb manager itself does not recognize it either in its drop down list.

@cj thanks for moving it .. and my apologies for going off topic in the other wilbrand thread... thanks again =0)

edit - Ok it seems that the cfg loader works fine =0) I was getting the error with the GXE one.

Thanks to all again, and i hope this thread can help others down the line that encounter the same issue i did...... being lost. lol

edit again - i just realized that i will obviously run into the problem i just mentioned again, down the line when i try to put more games on the hdd, the PC / Mac dont recognize the HDD, and neither does WBFS manager... so how can i solve that ?

I suggest you scrap using the wbfs formatted drive. Use FAT32 instead. You can easily and quickly format your drives with EASEUS Partion Manager (it's free).

Using FAT32 is soo much easier because it is detected by all USB Loaders (I can't think of one that DOESN"T accept it). And Your PC or MAC will certainly detect it.

You can keep your games in wbfs format and in the \wbfs\ folder. You can also convert your .isos to .wbfs using Wii Backup Manager.

Which USB Loader are you using? And what's GXE?

The link to Wii Backup Manager I gave you will tell you how to use it. It will autmatically put your games in their correct folders which are named and automatically ID'ed.

Also, if you don't want to install EASEUS, I think Wii Backup Manager can format your drive too.

ok CW, thanks for the info. I will try the new format tomorrow as its 2.14 am by me now lol

But ill explain again, the GXE usb loader was giving me an error and not finding the HDD.
But the CFG loader works fine on the games so far. (gxe was/is another type of loader i suppose, that was bunched in with the neogammer, CFGloader, and wiiflow)

I got no problem trying out the FAT32 format, it does seem easier and more logical ... BUT how can i reformat it, if its not being recognized at all by my mac, OR by the vmware windows 7 i am running... Plus .wfsb is not even noticing it either.

edit- Just woke up and i tried the Wii backup manager, it dont recognize the drive anymore either... I do get the option when i plug it in, to connect to windows, or to mac. But after that it is not found in mycomputer, nor in wbfs, nor in Wii backup manager.

Any ideas anyone ? Will be kinda lame with a 500gb empty drive basically with jus 4 games on it right now... lol

edit - (update) Ok i have gotten EASEUS partition manager to locate the drive. But i got a feeling something is not right. It comes up as an unallocated file system, 465.76 capacity, 0 used, 465.76 Gb unused. Like i mentioned earlier their is 5 maybe 6 games on this drive. I dont understand why its not showing used 30ish gb. ?

I will still tamper with it for now, trial and elimination at its best. lol

forevershine, if EASEUS says it's unused when you have stuff on it that means your drive isn't formatted properly. I wish I could expand but I'm in a rush to leave right now, so I'll tell you about it later!

No problem, and no rush. What i did was i formated the remaining portion of the drive, I can care less about 30gb.

And now with wii backup manager it created the wfsb folder, and i am placing more of my backed up games on there as we speak....

maybe it will work .. maybe it wont. but id rather try some things then to be spoon fed =0)

Again thanks, and ill keep u updated , get back to me whenever you can Cw.

Hey, I'm glad Wii Backup Manager is working for you. I believe the problem was in writing to the wbfs drive that made it unreadable. But you fixed that. if you need anything, I'm here. Also, if you want to run Gamecube Game backups, I made a guide for it.
