Couple of questions about how to find the appropriate Wii.
I'm new into the Wii scene, so I need your help. I will buy Nintendo Wii in couple of days, but there are problems with it. The salesman said that the console cannot be modchipped, only soft-modded. Therefore, I heard that if the console is soft-modded, it cannot play Game Cube backups Is there any possibility that I can play both Wii and Game Cube games, even though it can only be soft-modded?
And as for the external memory, can it support both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 external HDD, and with the capacity of 1TB? Are there any particular conditions required to fulfill this, and which ones?
Thank you in advance!

Soft Modding is best and you don't spend money on unnecessary hard mod chips and taking apart your wii.
You should use a 2.0 usb compatible drive.-->Usb Compatibility List
You might need an older remote.-->Wiimote Plus combined with Homebrew Apps not working.
Most programs have been fixed for this as of now,But you might have problems with MMM/Priiloader.
Be on the safe side and get a wiimote that doesn't have the wii motion plus combined in to one.

No, It means the one's with out the GC port's will not be able to play them.
The ones with the ports will play backup's,only if the drive can play Dvd-r's...Other then that you will have to use DML.
As fro wii motion plus, yes you will need that controller for certain games.
You would only need the old wii mote to get you through the modding stage.
