Did anything happen that caused this or did it just start happening by itself? For example, if the kids put in a game disk which asked them to update in order to play (Guitar hero is an example), and they did update they make have bricked your wii.

Can you boot in to priiloader?

Perhaps it could be a banner brick, if so I hope you have a NAND backup.

The first thing that I would do is look at your controllers and make sure they are lit up and staying lit (the green LED should light up denoting that it's controller 1). It sounds to me as if the controllers need to be re-synched to your Wii. This has happened to me numerous times since softmodding my Wii. If that isn't the case, then let's follow Anteara's advice and try to boot into the Priiloader or BootMii and get that NAND backup restored.

Go to the softmod any wii tutorial, follow it letter by letter, use priiloader to boot in to homebrew channel, and then follow the tutorial. Make sure you install all the new cIOS/IOS's, and install the 4.1 patched system menu.

Perhaps you updated your wii, and that's whats causing this... well regardless of the cause, follow the softmod any wii tutorial to get the latest cIOS and system menu and it should fix your problem.
