I received a WII which cant read sd cards any more. I softmoded long time before and until now was work. I try 3 sd cards but nothing. You think its hardware or software problem?

I know this may sound like common sense. But have you formatted the SD card to fat32?

What system menu are you on and are you using a SD or sdhc card?

When you say the Wii is not reading a SD card, do you mean while in the homebrew channel? Press 1 and make sure to check SD and not USB.

I know this stuff sounds pretty basic, but it will help with troubleshooting.

    Also post a system check.

Can you think of anything you did, when the problem started.

Do apps still work from USB?

When you say the SD card can't mount, what app are you using? Homebrew channel? You have your apps inside a folder named apps on the root of the SD?
What happens when you click the SD icon on the system menu?

    the wii isn't mine.
im trying to softmod from the begin but the wii don't read the sd.
the folders it's in sd root like apps ,wad ....
error {the device inserted in the sd card slot cannot be used} the same if u try to copy save game from wii to sd.
EDIT: the homebrew version is 1.1.0 ios58v24.31

does it have to do with some security patch from new homebrew installation or Mario cart which stop the purpose to use sd for softmod?
if i do official update from 4.2e to 4.3e maybe fix the problem and do softmod from begin or i will brick the console?

and the cd rom don't work know. i m try an original disk and don't works

it sounds like your sd slot is bad. You said the wii has already been modded a long time ago. If you still have hbc then you can try to update the mod from a usb drive. I am pretty sure wiimod will work from the usb.

If you know how to solder, you can buy a replacement SD card slot for around $5 including shipping. Alternatively, if you have a usb to sd card adapter, you could desolder the sd card portion and solder it on to your wii, as the pinout (should) be the same. Don't quote me on that, however. The replacement part would be the best choice, though.
