USB Loader GX crashes on any game after a few minutes

Hi, I recently followed the soft mod any Wii guide and now when running any game (so far it's Metroid other m and sonic unleashed) they crash (as in totally freezing forcing me to manually turn off my wii) when I'm watching the video that plays when starting a new game. Can anybody tell me why this is happening and/or how to fix it?

    Thanks.

Could it be my external HDD? I remember on my pc playing games on it that sometimes games would freeze for a few seconds but never could figure out why. My HDD is a Seagate GoFlex Desk 2TB with a replacement base allowing USB 3.0 and (of course) a USB 3.0 cable. Plus my room mate went on vacation with all my wii discs so I can't re-rip them for a while. Any other ideas?

BTW I reformatted my HDD to NTFS and copied my rips back on there and will try again and post back with my results.

could be the HDD. if it goes to sleep it can cause havock. although it shouldnt be going to sleep I have used many of those drives or at least its smaller cousin with no issues. Wii will only support USB 2.0 btw but those drives are backwards compatible.

you could also try a different cIOS as in 250 instead of 249.

reformatting the drive was a good start.
