CFG not reading USB or external HDD drives

Hi all, I'm new to this so please bear with me. I was recently given a black Wii (ver. 4.2u) by a friend which was not yet soft modded. Had it taken cared of by an acquaintance who upgraded it to 4.3 and soft modded. I guess I was stupid for not asking how to set up games using an external storage device since he did give me an example by plugging an 8gb USB drive and showing the games being run. Just told me to use WBFS.

My problem now is my USB drives are not detected by CFG (ver. 56a). I checked around and followed instructions on how to format the drive to FAT32, where to plug in on the wii (I've tried both ports) and CFG still does not detect ANY drive I used, from a 4gb flash to a 250gb HDD. Guy who updated the Wii currently is overseas and having it checked locally may cost me. All drives were formatted correctly AND detected in WBFS. Transferred some game iso backups on each drive and still nothing. Do I have to get the softmod reversed then done over again?

    Thanks for the help!

Um... so your drive is formatted as WBFS or FAT32? If it's WBFS, use this tool: Wii Game Manager v1.5.0.2 [wiiGM] (download torrent) - TPB to transfer ISO's to your WBFS partition. If it's FAT32, use the link I gave, and using the software, convert .iso to .wbfs files. then make a folder called "WBFS" on your drive, and put the .wbfs file there. Then use USB Loader CFG, USB Loader GX, or WiiFlow to make sure it works. If CFG, doesn't work, try the other two.

Thanks for the help! I tried again with my 8GB USB flash drive and results so far:

first try with Wii Game Manager 1.5.0.2, drive was detected but cannot read any content. This was formatted as a FAT32. Tried formatting to WBFS, drive was not detected. I've yet to try other loaders. Not sure if i'm doing anything wrong.

No, first use Wii game Manager to convert the .iso file to.wbfs, then format your drive as FAT32. Copy the .wbfs file to your pen drive, in a folder called "wbfs". Change the name of the game to the title ID. So Wii Sports should look like:
    X:\WBFS\RSPE01.wbfs
Where X is your pen drive. Now launch using CFG, GX, or WiiFlow.
PS: Put the drive in Port 0 of your Wii. Which is the one on the bottom, with the Wii in horizontal position.

@OP, did you follow our Fat32 formatting guide HERE? Might want to have a look. Also, nothing against the app NSDCars5 was suggesting, but I personaly have found WiiBackup Manager to be very helpful. It will automatically convert your games, name them correctly, and put them in the correct folder on your fat32 drive for you. Its all in the guide that I just linked you to.
